Our Father’s House believes that every child should have a good home. A place where they have peace, stability, and the ability to flourish. Street children in Tarime have none of this. Instead, they are constantly moving, struggling to survive, and living in fear of their environment and the people around them.

Our Father’s House works to reunite street children with their biological families or, in cases where this isn’t possible or isn’t beneficial, to place them in supported foster families.
Earning their Trust
Our Father’s House takes a funnel approach to reach reunification with street children.
We build relationships with many street children in Tarime through street workers, Saturday games, and word of mouth via other street children who we have already built relationships with.

We work more closely and start doing counseling with a smaller number of street children and their families as we prepare both sides for a peaceful thriving home. During this time we also provide education, medical treatment, and other interventions to the children as needed.
Reunification

We work on reunification between families and we focus on the physical, spiritual, and emotional preparation needed both by child and family.
We continue to follow up with the child and family in order to prevent a child from returning to the streets.
Older Youth and Family Strengthening
As Our Father’s House grows we will work towards long term change for the families and communities. This includes finding ways to give older street children skills and confidence in order to be included members of the community. This work has already been started through a brick project for older street children which teaches them responsibility, work skills, and allows them to start saving money for a new life off of the streets. Long term change also includes sensitizing the community to the life of street children and making them aware that helping street children is the responsibility of all.

We hope that Our Father’s House will eventually be able to start identifying and strengthening fragile families in the Tarime area, so that less children end up on the streets in the first place.
